WIN SOME, LOSE SOME
I didn't watch the election results last night. Ever since the intensity of the 2004 election, when I became so burned out I almost stopped blogging altogether, I decided that watching reruns on TV is better for my health. I quit watching the news for the same reason. So last night, while DogMan was online, I watched Law & Order reruns and then Sex & the City reruns, during which I fell asleep. And I might have made it to this morning had DogMan not awakened me to announce that the Dems took the House.
This morning I logged online and noticed that the other shoe had dropped.
I don't know if Repubs sat out the election in any great numbers. To those who did: You got what you wanted.
One thing about the candidates ... I'm sick of the less-than-stellar candidates from both parties. Having to hold one's nose to vote for your guy is no way to win. I don't expect perfection; I do expect qualified, honest people. If my guy doesn't win, it would be comforting to know that the other guy is at least honest and qualified to do the job. Speaking of which, it's beyond me how the Dems talked about the Repubs' "culture of corruption," when the next Chairman of the House Intelligence will be Representative Alcee Hastings.
It's not the end of the world. President Bush will be fine. His faith and his family are his strengths, not to mention those of us who consider him to be the bravest and most principled president in our lifetime.
I'm going to post this then go give my 16-year-old cat Ichabod his morning insulin shot. Then I'll clean out the litter box and think of the Dems. I'll listen to Rush this afternoon, and I'll do an energetic 50 minutes on the treadmill later on. Life will go on. As Rush always says, "My success is not determined by who wins elections."
We all need a good laugh about now. HERE it is :~)
