ROUNDUP
Mmm-mmm-mmm!
8 Aaron and I agree on this: The Keyes-Obama debates might go down as the most electrifying senate race debates in history.
8 Jayson, at PoliPundit, has checked the stats and wonders: Was Bill Clinton a racist?
8 Tyler is an opportunist. Me, too. And you?
8 roberto’s “My Two Cents on Springsteen” complete with a great photoshop pic!
8 Russell Roberts gives Springsteen some advice: A public ceremony where wealthy people wrote checks to charities equal to their tax cut would have a lot more political bang for the buck than an op-ed in the New York Times. Go for it, Bruce.
8 Ewwwwww!: Priced at $28 bucks, the thongs read, "No More Bush" (where?) and have been flying off the shelves with 20 sold. Yes, you read that correctly, 20.
CAMPAIGN SEASON CELLULOID
If you have never seen the original “The Manchurian Candidate,” you should. I’ve heard it’s far better than this remake. Of course, I’d watch the remake just to see Streep play Her Royal C. She claims she's not, which might make seeing for myself worth a matinee ticket.
'Manchurian' typifies anti-Bush bias
by James Pinkerton
The key to effective fear is knowing what's real - who's really out to get you. In George W. Bush's case, it's the media culture that's on his case.
The just-released remake of "The Manchurian Candidate" spins the politics of the original. Whereas the 1962 film imagined that the Red Chinese were plotting to kill a president, in the new film the villainous would-be assassins are capitalists, not Communists.
…
Director Jonathan Demme barely bothers to hide his political motivations. "The very notion that there are corporations that get obscenely rich off of war," he told National Public Radio, "there's something unpleasant about that in the extreme." Another hint to the filmgoer: the onscreen presence of comedian/liberal activist Al Franken.
…
So here's a question: Which is more real, the prospect that right-wing corporate warmongers will try to steal the 2004 election through murder, or the prospect that liberal-left activists will seek to influence the election using their preponderance in the news and entertainment media?
Paranoia: Then and Now
By Jeremy Lott
[W]here the original [Manchurian]Candidate proved too on target with its over-the-top-ness, the new one is suffering from the opposite problem. As I filed out with other moviegoers on opening night, the most common complaint I overheard was that this movie wasn't frightening enough.
…
In short, the Cold War loomed large. There was a very real sense that the U.S. could lose it all to the Soviet Union and Red China.
Along came a movie that said, "Buddy, you don't know the half of it." The would-be assassin is a decorated war hero, programmed to kill on command without remorse. And in case anybody missed the point about how we can no longer trust authority figures, he wears a priest outfit to do the hit. The assassin's mother is a Soviet agent. His stepfather, a Sen. Joe McCarthy knockoff and vice-presidential nominee, is her marionette. And this happy family is but one bullet away from the nomination and the presidency.
…
The commercial problem for the new Candidate is that, try as he might, director Demme can't make Americans fear corporations in the same way that they once did the Communists. The USSR invaded countries and fed people to the Gulags. Halliburton may occasionally overcharge for gasoline. See the difference?

RIGHT THINKING
Why Bush will win
By Russell Roberts
Ray Fair has a model that predicts presidential outcomes based on the state of the economy. His model, as of July, is predicting that Bush will get 57% of the popular vote. Fair's model has predicted five of the last six Presidential elections.
I have a model that successfully predicts the last THIRTEEN elections. It's a bit simpler than Fair's whose model relies on complex statistical analysis. My model is a little simpler.
INSTANT HIT!
The DNC can't keep this story quiet.
VETS CHARGE: KERRY KILLED FLEEING TEEN; LIED FOR MEDAL
A veterans group seeking to deeply discredit Democrat John Kerry's military service will charge in the new bombshell book UNFIT FOR COMMAND:
"Kerry earned his Silver Star by killing a lone, fleeing, teenage Viet Cong in a loincloth."
"And if Kerry's superiors had known the truth at the time, they would never have recommended him for the medal."
The book also claims to detail how Kerry personally ordered the slaughter of small animals at a small hamlet along the Song Bo De River.
The book, set for release next week, hit #1 on the AMAZON hitparade after the DRUDGE REPORT revealed details of the book -- a book the Kerry camapign believes is the"the dirtiest of all dirty tricks ever played on a candidate for the presidency."
Check out KerryHaters for more articles on this subject.
NOT A PRETTY PICTURE
Lifson has gathered information on Kerry from his family background, his religion, his marriages, his home, his military service, and his business career, which includes L’Fraude’s infamous cookie business.
The Jigsaw Man
By Thomas Lifson
When getting to know somebody new who could influence our fate, most of us construct a kind of jigsaw puzzle, observing his behavior in different situations, learning about the person’s past, meeting close friends and relatives, and picking up all the little signs of character, from facial expression and posture to sense of humor.
With less than 3 months until Election Day, enough pieces of the Kerry jigsaw puzzle are on the table to provide a frame for the picture, the essential step in ordering all the other fragments. Kerry’s self-chosen frame is Viet Nam. There are two potential arrangements of the straight-edged pieces. One sort of looks like a hero. The other way looks like a phony.

WAFFLE UPDATE
Two protestors, one dressed as a waffle and one waving flip flops stand on a nearby side street while Democratic Presidential nominee Senator John Kerry speaks at a Main Street campaign rally in Hannibal, Missouri.
As I reported yesterday, Chris of TheWaffleHouse was closed down for the 2nd time. He was told that it concerned the the restaurant by the same name:
A Lyndsey Cayman called me from WH Capital in Atlanta GA. She put me on speaker phone and told me that she was going to have my site shut down and was contacting my host. She said she was responsible for my other site shutdown. WH Capitol is the real Waffle House. They are sending paperwork that they want me to sign that I can never reference Kerry to the Waffle House again.
I told them that I would alter their logo and do a disclaimer. She told me that they are taking my domain name and the site would be shutdown. I asked why. She told me that they had received complaints from a political party that the Waffle House was officially against John Kerry. She said that people thought the Waffle House was against John Kerry and that this was sponsored by them.
So I decided to see if there was another site with a similar name, and lo and behold there is!
And how’s ‘bout a T-shirt complete with logo!
T-shirt: John Kerry’s Waffle House “I actually ate here… before I didn’t.”
According to Chris:
Think my site is a target because of the traffic, 30,000 page views in 5 months, and those emails I posted. I think the emails that really got to them were the Ken Lay, Andre Heinz hiring a foreigner with Heinz Center money for the campaign and how they duped Ohio union workers. … This has nothing to do with the Waffle House restaurant.
I’m happy to say that Chris is up’n’running with his new site WaffelHaus!
Site might stay in business this time. They can't legally touch it now.

8 FRANKS GETS 5-STAR REVIEW: IN his first days of battle for the hearts and minds of the American book buyer, General Tommy Franks has emerged victorious.
Released on Tuesday, Aug. 3, "American Soldier" — the memoir by the architect of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq — is at the top of both the Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com bestseller lists.
8 Bill Clinton's memoir, "My Life," has sold more than 1.5 million in six weeks of publication.
8 "The 9/11 Commission Report," another surprise hit, has 800,000 in print, and will debut at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list to be published on Aug. 15.
8 And remember that book Bush was reading to the school children when he was told the Twin Towers had been attacked? Well, Bush-bashers are leaving snide book reviews on Amazon:
As of last week, readers had posted four separate reviews with strikingly similar points of view. "Nothing could tear me away from 'The Pet Goat,'" reads one. "Not even a national emergency."
"If only the book were longer, then I could have sat there and read it for seven hours," reads another. One reader liked the book so much, "I even forgot to do my job and lead the country following the worst tragedy in it's [sic] history."
The reviews, which were posted on the Amazon site as recently as last week, have since been removed. (One new one, in a similar vein, is posted now.) In the past, Amazon has removed material it deemed offensive, but the Case of "The Pet Goat" Reviews remains unsolved. An Amazon spokesman did not return a call requesting comment.

But Rush's opinions and predictions usually prove correct.
When Dems Lose, Get Ready for Impeachment
[A] number of you people have written and have called and asked me, "When the Democrats lose, what are they going to do?" and the first thing they're going to do, I just want to warn you is, they're going to try to impeach Bush over this Abu Ghraib thing. That's why they're keeping this alive. If they lose, don't expect them to go away. They're going to try to impeach Bush. We've already heard rumblings about that. That's what I think. I mean, that's just my opinion, but I think that they're going to do everything they can to get him out of office if there is a clear-cut election victory this time, which there will be, by the way.

SHUT DOWN … AGAIN!
This is a message from Chris, proprietor of The Waffle House:
A Lyndsey Cayman called me from WH Capital in Atlanta GA. She put me on speaker phone and told me that she was going to have my site shut down and was contacting my host. She said she was responsible for my other site shutdown. WH Capitol is the real Waffle House. They are sending paperwork that they want me to sign that I can never reference Kerry to the Waffle House again.

She told me that they had received complaints from a political party that the Waffle House was officially against John Kerry. She said that people thought the Waffle House was against John Kerry and that this was sponsored by them.
Probably will be shut down today. This really boils down to the Heinz Center emails in my possession. There are several Kerry Waffle House sites, sites that use the name Waffle House and sites with parody pictures of Kerry and the Waffle House. Why I am I the only one that's being singled out? I think I have something they don't want seen. What really ticks me off is that the press won't touch these emails with a ten foot pole. They are scared of these people.

WAR WAR WAR
Scarlett O’Hara keeps running through my mind lately, specifically in the beginning of the film when she’s sitting with the Tarleton twins, both of whom are vying for her affection, and she says, “War, war, war. This war talk's spoiling all the fun at every party this spring.” No particular meaning, really. It’s just how my mind (and I use the term loosely) works … a means with which to add some levity in a deadly serious subject these days.
Two must-reads on the war today; both good news, too
8 DOTS ALL, FOLKS
By John Podhoretz
This weekend, the administration did exactly what its critics said it should have done before 9/11. It connected the dots. It raised the threat level to orange and let America and the world know which specific buildings were under threat.
And how have some administration critics reacted?
They accuse Bush of playing politics with terror. Of lying, in other words, about the peril we're in.
…
By portraying Bush as having somehow allowed 9/11 to happen, Bush's enemies finally found a way to seem harder-line and more serious about the subject than the president himself.
No matter. They didn't mean it. They don't mean it. They just want to destroy him, and they'll say or do or argue just about anything to see that it happens.
Some of the attacks on Bush are crazy. Some are intellectually indefensible spin, and therefore nothing less than contemptible. This latest attack goes in the "contemptible" pile.
8 IRAQ: BUILDING DEMOCRACY
By AMIR TAHERI
It is clear that many key members of the United Nations — notably Russia, Germany, China and France — are playing for time until after the U.S. presidential election. Having opposed President Bush's policy toward Iraq from the start, they are reluctant to come in and help make it a success.
All that should change after the American elections. If Bush is re-elected, his opponents would know that they can't afford to moan and sulk for four more years. If John Kerry wins, the powers that had opposed Bush could claim a role in Iraq without having to eat humble pie.
The Iraqis, however, have wisely decided not to wait for the United Nations (which they neither like nor trust). They have decided to go ahead with the elections plans, effectively rendering the U.N. role academic, at least at this juncture.
…
Saddam Hussein created the most awesome machinery of fear and violence ever seen in Arab history. He killed more people than any Arab ruler. But his huge army, multiple guards, numerous secret services and readiness to kill without account led him only into that spider's hole near Takrit.
Iraq's new leaders must never forget that spider's hole — the final destination of a regime that lied, cheated, bullied, tortured, burned, plundered and killed for 35 years.
…
Only by giving power to the people will the interim government succeed in defeating those who dream of either reviving the Saddamite republic of fear or creating a Talibanist regime in Baghdad.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHORTSTOP!
That’s Shortstop (a.k.a. “The Future Mrs. Derek Jeter”). She and I worked together for several years waiting on yuppy scum and their evil spawn at the shoe store. She was a kid who used to rollerblade to work and one day tried to teach me. Rigor mortis set in the minute my rollerblades hit the brick sidewalk, and she ended up pushing my stiffened body back into the store. She still recalls the day I got into a fight with the odious 4-year-old Molly, who was wrecking our boat shoe displays and hitting me as I tried to retrieve the merchandise, all in full display of the monster’s parents, who sat three feet away and smiled adoringly the whole time. She told me about her frog phobia and her killer-pig dream, and I’d blather on endlessly about a certain bitch. We had the best times working together. She turned a menial job into fun. Those will begin to look like the glory days, because Wednesday is Shortstop's 21st birthday, which means it’s gonna be all downhill from now on. Arthritis, hearing aids, naps, books with large print, and Metamucil. They’re your destiny!
Happy Birthday, Shortstop.
Luv ya!

Memo to Karl Rove
By Pat (new daddy) at CrushKerry
Dear Karl:
News sources have indicated President George W. Bush will embark on an aggressive August campaign swing in the build up to the Republican National Convention. Frankly, it’s about time. For the better part of 2004 John Kerry and his liberal allies have thrown everything they have at our President … best selling books, movies, slanted news coverage, 9-11 Commission show trials. The have likened him to Hitler, they have blamed him for terrorism, they’ve accused him of corruption, of being in bed with the bin Ladens, of being worse than Saddam, and lately of having trumped up terror threats for political gain. We’ve been waiting to the push back.
We understand Republicans are, for whatever reason, pre-programmed to wake up around convention time, but this has gone on long enough. Herewith are some thoughts about what we’d like to hear the President say between now and the Republican National Convention.

Movie Idea
If anybody has the time, money, or connections, I have an obvious movie idea for you.
Fahrenheit Redux: A Closer Look
I would go scene-by-scene through F9/11 and re-show the scenes of the movie, only show them as they are. When Condoleeza Rice talks about an Iraq/al Qaeda connection, show the entire qualifying statement. In place of the President's "Now watch this drive" moment, find video or a transcript of Michael Moore calling white people "scaredy cats" or Americans "idiots." And so forth.
8 It’s not like the terrorists woke up on September 11, 2001, and said, “Let’s fly some planes into the Twin Towers today!” They spend years planning their attacks, supposedly even doing dry runs on airplanes. Michelle Malkin points out that

What’s Wrong With Blame?
One of the news items the Democrats Boston Lie and Slander Fest pushed off the front pages was the 9/11 Commission Report. A lot of money spent, a lot of political grandstanding by the partisan Democratic hacks on the commission, a lot of BS and copious attempts by liberals and their allies in liberal media to blame the Bush Administration for the events surrounding 9/11. In the final analysis, everyone one came to the conclusion that there was enough blame to go around. Let me get this straight: The Bush Administration and the Clinton Administration ber equal responsibility for 9/11? What a stinking load of BS.
…
And when you talk about blame, there isn’t a hell of a lot to be assigned to the Bush Administration.
Bush was in office for just over eight months at the time of the attacks on the World Trade Center – barely enough time to get an presidential administration up and running. And yet we know that his national security team as early as March of 2001 – six weeks after he took office, before they were even settled in – began to formulate a plan to actually deal the information on terror threats that had been passed on to them by the outgoing Clinton Administration.
WHERE’S KERRY?
Kinda makes you hope that Bush will call Congress back into session.
THE DO-NOTHING TICKET
John Kerry was quick off the blocks yesterday regarding President Bush's intelligence reform proposals: The junior senator from Massachusetts said they lack appropriate "urgency."
If the president were "serious" about his reforms, said Kerry, he would call the Congress back into session to pass them.
…
If Bush called that session, would Kerry show up to vote?
SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT
Lorie Byrd, at PoliPundit, does a great job with
Mission Accomplished
First there was the claim that Bush fed the soldiers in Iraq a "plastic turkey" at Thanksgiving, which turned out to be a fabrication. Then the 9/11 commission report and various other documents showed that it was Joe Wilson, not George Bush, who was lying about the "16 words" statement about Saddam seeking uranium from Africa. Now Gen. Tommy Franks says the "Mission Accomplished" speech was actually meant to encourage more help from the international community, rather than to mislead the American people, as Bush's opponents have claimed.

SYRIAN BAND BOYS UPDATE
Article Raises Airline-Security Questions
A writer's harrowing account of the odd actions of 14 Middle Eastern men aboard a Detroit-to-Los Angeles flight in June is prompting new concerns about airline security.
The men traveling together on the Northwest flight lingered in the bathroom, congregated in the aisles and signaled each other during the trip, according to the account. Passengers and the crew feared the men planned a hijacking, said the writer, Annie Jacobsen.
When Flight 327 landed on June 29, the men were met by agents of the FBI … the Los Angeles Police Department and the Transportation Security Administration.
Government officials confirm her account of the flight and the arrival scene. But they say none of the men posed a threat. In fact, they were members of a backup band for a singer, Nour Mehanna, who is described as "the Syrian Wayne Newton" and were heading to a show near San Diego.
The online story created a furor nonetheless.
…
Last week, congressional aides questioned air marshals and the FBI about why immigration officials had not checked the musicians' status at the airport. A second briefing is planned.
FEAR OF FLYING?
Then learn how to beat the crap outta those Syrian band members (yeah, right, BAND members!).
New book teaches you how to beat the %^ out of a suspected terrorist
An airline pilot, a SWAT team commander and a police instructor joined in writing "Never Again: A Self-Defense Guide for the Flying Public."
Some of the self-defense techniques discussed in the book include elbow chops, punches to the throat, lip pulls and kicks to the groin.
If the bad guy is still breathing after that punishment, you can whack him in the head with a soda can, which the authors describe as an "effective short-range missile." And, proving that I was wrong all along about the usefulness of neckwear, a tie is said to make an excellent wrist restraint.
This book has received some pretty decent reviews from airline professionals. Click HERE to purchase. Sales help fund JWR.

FRANKLY SPEAKING
Franks Talks Candidly In Exclusive Interview
The biggest surprise for him was that they've found no weapons of mass destruction (WMD), the "reason we went to war." He says multiple Middle Eastern leaders, including Jordan's King Abdullah and Egypt's Hosni Mubarak, told Franks that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. In January 2003, Mubarak said point blank to Franks, "Saddam has WMD-biologicals, actually-and he will use them on your troops."
…
Franks singles out White House Counter-terrorism Czar Richard Clarke as never providing him with "a single page of actionable intelligence" and of engaging in mostly wishful thinking. Franks also believes the U.S. invested too much in electronic spy surveillance and not enough in spies. "We can't send a Princeton-educated New York lawyer to infiltrate al-Qaeda. To get information, we have to marry the devil or at least employ him. You have to deal."

SHOW OF FORCE

SEVEN American aircraft-carrier strike groups are plying the world's seven seas right now in one of the biggest military exercises since the end of the Cold War.
Officially, it's the first test of the Navy's new strategy, the Fleet Response Plan (FRP). Unofficially, it puts America's potential foes on notice: The U.S. Army may be stretched pretty thin at the moment — but the U.S. Navy isn't
…
Each carrier strike group (CSG) includes one carrier with 75 aircraft, 4 combat ships, a submarine, cruise missiles and 6,500 sailors. No other nation can put to sea — anywhere on earth — such an incredible display of military might.
EVERYBODY LOOK WHAT’S GOING DOWN
Of all the lies and lame criticisms made about the war, the one that truly bothers me is this claim that “we” (meaning Bush) predicted wrong, a "failure of vision." Howinthehell could anyone have predicted everything? correctly? Who can honestly say right now that you knew and/or suspected that our own commercial planes would be flown into the Towers on a specific day? And if you can honestly make that claim, whyinthehell didn't YOU do something to stop them? Such claims are specious, but worse than specious, they're vile. Because the fact is that many of the bold-faced names who make these claims know better; their motives are purely political. To me that’s treasonous, but it’s a price we pay to live in a free-speech country. So, while they play hardball politics, the terrorists are still at war, and they're fighting for keeps.
BACK TO REALITY
By John Podhoretz
MANY Americans — many New Yorkers — have spent the past year on vacation.
Now, with the news yesterday that put America on orange alert (and New York on heightened alert), we've been forced to return from our vacation earlier than we would have liked.
…
So the only reason we didn't stop 9/11, or went to war over WMD we haven't found, or faced terrible difficulties in pacifying Iraq and Afghanistan, is that we suffered from a "failure of vision."
Or because our leaders lied.
…
How much worse, how much more frightening, how much more horrible it is to have to face the truth.
The truth is: We face a clever, devious and diabolical foe that will stop at nothing. Our foe is radical Islam, and its tool of choice is terror.

KERRY LIED WHILE GOOD MEN DIED
Some people are finally voicing the fact that Kerry is a liar. They're actually connecting his name with the word, and now there's even a website by that name. My question now is, why wasn’t Kerry ever prosecuted?
John Kerry told the world we were war criminals who raped, tortured and murdered in Vietnam. Now, thirty-three years later, we will tell America the truth. Join us at the rally we call:
KERRY LIED . . . while good men died
A gathering of Vietnam veterans from across America
Where: Upper Senate Park, Washington, D.C.
It is easy to get to, shady and pretty, with a great view of the Capitol
dome in back of the speaker's platform.
THIS IS A NEW LOCATION AS OF 7/17/04
When: Sunday, Sept 12, 2004 2:00-4:00 PM (EDT)
Why: To tell the truth about Vietnam veterans.
To counter the lies told about Vietnam veterans by John
Kerry.
All Vietnam veterans and their families and supporters are
asked to attend. Other veterans are invited as honored guests.

LES LIAISONS DANGEREOUS
Teresa Heinz Kerry telling Colin McNickle to “shove it” was the beginning of a nightmare for him.
Killing the questioner
By Colin McNickle
Shove it, (expletive)!" one fellow told me as I walked down a Boston street. "You're the (expletive) who called Mrs. Kerry 'un-American,' " a girl told me in Boston Common.
And once the DNC's liberal attack machine was fully cranked, the e-mails and telephone calls started.
"I hope you burn in hell," read one e-mail. "You're a (expletive) Nazi," went another. "Teresa should have told you to go (expletive) yourself," another friendly e-mailer offered. And these were among the milder communiques; those that included death threats will be forwarded to the senders' respective hometown police departments.
One of my daughters back in Pittsburgh was brought to tears by a caller to our house. The clever woman identified herself as a Washington reporter seeking to interview me but then embarked on a filthy tirade. It seems a member of the Heinz Kerry Civility Enforcement Patrol posted our home address and telephone number on the response part of my convention blog.
Hat tip to Pat at KerryHaters!
These heavy-handed tactics are not new to Chris, whose first anti-Kerry site, TheWaffleHouse, was shut down without warning. He believes, with good reason, that the Kerrys were behind it. Here’s a synopsis of the situation, which CrushKerry posted on their site:
Stifling Dissent. Here's what we've been told by the (former) propreitor of the anti-Kerry site www.heinzkerry.org (a/k/a "The Waffle House"). He registered the domain name "heinzkerry.org. The Heinz Center (a non-profit charitable organization we believe is headed by Teresa) used "heinzkerry.org" as their email addresses. Some internal emails of the Heinz Center were apparently redirected to the heinzkerry.org website by the site host, which came as a surprise to the website owner. The emails the website owner got showed possible cooridination between the Heinz Center and Heinz Foundation (charitable organizations which are not allowed to be political) and the highest levels of the Kerry campaign staff. These contacts raised questions about whether or not there were violations of CFR and tax laws.
When he published these emails on his site the website owner claims to have received death threats via email and a virus from the Heinz Center. His website host shut down his site, saying he violated the terms of service, and that there was impending legal action. The owner did not mention to us if he knew who was behind the impending legal action that the host referenced. We'll continue to keep you updated
Chris was hoping the media would pick up the story, but they wanted no part of it.
I called the RNC and they think I'm a conspiracy freak. Local radio guys that loved my site won't talk to me anymore.
He was up’n’running with a new WaffleHouse with a new host within a day or two. It’s just another anecdote of how the Kerrys treat others.
“MILDEST ON RECORD”
U.S. 2001: slump or recession?
Not only was the U.S. recession in 2001 the shallowest on record, it may not have been one at all -- at least in the classic sense of two straight quarterly declines, new government data shows.

[T]he economy shrank just 0.4 percent, keeping the recession as measured by GDP the mildest on record. The 1969-1970 recessionary period, in which the economy contracted 0.6 percent, comes in a close second.
“RIGHT DOWN TO THEIR UNDERWEAR”
Heckler & Koch MP5SD
Tyler, at RedLinerAnts, is:
Filled With Confidence : Well this makes me feel good... especially as I'll be in New York for the convention. Ah well, might as well have another beer. Can't let the terrorists win, ya know.
Never fear, Tyler. Looks like NYC will be packin’ major heat. ‘Course I’d never go myself … hate crowds … although that underwear sounds interesting.
WHIZ-BANG GIZMOS
U.S. Special Forces and military disaster-response teams guarding New York during the Republican convention will be armed with the latest high-tech weaponry, including "ballistic" sunglasses, advanced machine guns and a flashlight that can blind attackers, The Post has learned.
…
Some will strap on Heckler & Koch MP5s — lightweight 9 mm submachine guns that come with telescopic and laser sights and are favored by Delta Force commandos.
Others will employ the more powerful Colt M4, nicknamed "the baby M-16," a 5.56-caliber machine gun with three settings, from single shot to fully automatic.
Handguns range from the standard Colt .45 to the Austrian-made Sigsauer, a .45-caliber handgun popular among SEALs.
When it comes to clothing, Special Forces are protected all over — right down to their underwear, which is made of a moisture-wicking blend that reduces heat and sweat.
GEEEEEESH!
All those MILLION$ for those "f'n balloons," all that lost business for a city on lock-down, and he pissed off Mayor Menino to boot, all for a paltry few points ... if that that (see CrushKerry link).
BARELY A BLIP
The Democratic National Convention provided the barest of boosts to presidential wannabe John Kerry — earning him a historically low 4-point "bounce" in the polls, according to a survey released yesterday.
Kerry still leads President Bush, by 49 to 42 percent in a three-way race with Ralph Nader, but the Newsweek magazine poll bodes well for the incumbent, whose Republican convention takes place late this month.
In a poll taken July 8-9, Kerry led Bush, 47 to 44 percent, according to the magazine, which said the swing is the lowest in its history of post-convention polling.
About that polling … CrushKerry reminds us:
Mainstream Press Lies About Kerry Bounce Newsweek is reporting a 4 point Kerry "bounce" with him now leading by 7 points. It's another fraudulent poll, as it polls only "adults", not even "registered" voters, there is no breakdown of the party ID of respondents, or geographic location of respondents. Then again, if you're a Kerry Crusher, you already know how we've exposed the fraudulent media polls.
