I composed that graphic from a slide show Rush posted. It says it all.
Newsbusters has a great rundown of how the Dems took the great news about al-Zarqawi's death.
AJ Strata on Democrats Cannot Handle National Security: How do I know? They open their mouths.
Thank you to our fabulous military, and thank you to President Bush. After all, al-Zarqawi could have died of old age and Saddam's rape and torture rooms could still be running full tilt had either Algore or John L'fraude Kerry been president.
SIX SIX SIX, ALL IN A ROW =:O
Is that an omen or what? Do-do do-do. Do-do do-do.
CANADA: SO BEAUTIFUL & YET SO CLUELESS
Remember that Canada thought the Mounties needed "sensitivity training" in order to capture terrorists.
Canada's Tolerance is No Deterrent to Terrorism: No nation is more tolerant than Canada. No nation is more multicultural than Canada. Provincial authorities in Ontario have even considered permitting Muslims in the province to be governed by Sharia, rather than Canadian, law. Canadians oppose the war in Iraq. Canadians want the prison at Guantanamo Bay closed. So how could Muslims not love Canada, like every one else does?
Could it be that radical Islamists want to kill Canadians simply because Canadians aren't radical Islamists? This a concept which Canadians who once thought they could kibitz the war on terror safely from the bleachers are now having to come to grips with.
"An Associated Press dispatch on the bomb plot noted that Canada, with America, Britain, Spain and Australia, was listed by Osama bin Laden as a 'Christian' nation that should be a target for terrorism," the New York Sun noted in an editorial Monday. "Nothing short of dropping Christianity and converting to Islam will satisfy the Islamic terrorists."
"Canada has been the doofus who keeps getting shoved into lockers, but still figures that if he gives up more lunches and bus money, the haranguing will end.

8 AJ Strata points out, Bush And Congress, Who Is Stopping Progress: Bush is the consumate political poker player. He will give Reps and Dems alike all the rope they need so he can make his mark in history. Don’t ever believe otherwise.

8 Chris Just picked up my copy of Ann Coulter's newest – Godless: This book gets 2 Lucky Dawg paws up from what I've read. Godless has even pissed off Hillary Clinton. What better endorsement is that?
8 Locally, Snake hunters could face last roundup: That's because of regulations expected to be adopted by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission in 2007 that would make it impractical, if not impossible, for the roundup to continue.
STICKS 'N' STONES
Ann Coulter's caustic style may not be one which my Grandmother B would have considered dignified, but I like her and her style. It's quite possible that all the right-wingers who are bloviating about Coulter's "cruelty" are secretly relieved that someone finally took those Jersey Girls to task. I loathe those women's tactics of wrapping themselves in their grief in order to attack our country and the President. They stumped for the Democrats who, in essence, helped to create 9/11 which made them widows (e.g., Gorelick's "wall"). How long can the Jersey Girls use their grief as an excuse?
No surprise that not everyone agrres with me.
Mac Ranger says Ann Coulter new book, Liberalism/Secular Humanism = Godless: Ooooh! I like it. Straight shot to "center mass".
Don Surber says Coulter brings shame to conservatives: Once again, Coulter had to sensationalize her appearance to peddle a book. This time she decided to insult the 9/11 widows who were critical of the Bush administration.

AJ Strata says Anne Coulter Needs To Keep Quiet: Anne Coulter is no Conservative. She cannot be. Either that or I am no conservative. There is no way to condone such cruelty. Anne, sit down and just don’t talk anymore. You have done enough damage.
Newsbuster's Gaggle cartoon today says it all.
After all that hot air over words no less!, here’s something truly worthy of some of that moral indignation. Mounties Get Sensitivity Training Before Terror Bust: Before the raids came the sensitivity training: Tactical-squad Mounties learned how to properly handle Korans prior to arresting 17 terrorism suspects on the weekend. And that’s not all. The RCMP also made sure there were clean prayer mats on hand for their suspects when they were sent to jail cells.
The science of computer forensics is helping to nab criminals. Here's a great article in Popular Mechanics (bookmark them if you haven't already) on the subject and how it works.
The Digital Detectives
HIDDEN FOLDERS, "DELETED" FILES AND INTERNET CACHES HIDE CLUES CRIMINALS NEVER KNEW THEY LEFT BEHIND
“It is unusual today to have a case that doesn’t involve computers,” explains Mary Beth Buchanan, U.S. attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania. She adds that computers are not just a source of evidence, but a source of better evidence. “Through the use of computers, people store information they might not otherwise. They might not even know it is being stored,” Buchanan says. “The value [of the evidence] is also greater because that information is stored in an organized manner and the computer leaves footprints of an individual’s every action.”
The police used DNA evidence to link Rader to the crime scenes and in August 2005 he was given 10 consecutive life sentences. After more than 31 years and 100,000 man-hours, Stone’s digital detective work cracked the BTK case within 15 minutes of receiving the disk.
For those who don't like/hate the Patriot Act, it saved this 13-year-old girl's life.
Holtz tried to contact Yahoo to get the Internet protocol (IP) address of the profile, but it was 6:30 am at the Yahoo corporate offices on the West Coast and she couldn’t get anyone on the phone. Eventually, an agent in Sacramento, Calif., was reached, who called a contact at Yahoo. Minutes later, Holtz faxed a letter to Yahoo asking for the IP address, citing Section 212 of the Patriot Act.
Prior to the Patriot Act, which was passed in October 2001, many corporations required search warrants or subpoenas before granting government requests for customer information, mainly to shield themselves from lawsuits. But Section 212 releases companies from civil liability in cases where someone is at risk of “immediate danger of death or serious physical injury.” This case was one of the first times the provision was used.
62 YEARS LATER OUR TROOPS ARE JUST AS BRAVE
These are pictures of my father. On the back of the left photo is noted, "Omaha Beach," and on the back of the right one, "Omaha Beach D+4. (It rained and snowed the next day) Photo by Oden Lunde -- Great Falls, Mont." No date, so I can't be certain if this was D-Day or not. My father survived WWII, but many did not.
Dave remembers that today is D-Day: Many of the troops you see wading through the water didn't live but a few moments after the picture was snapped.

8 This is a GREAT article to read today! A lesson learned in Iraq: Ronnie Young, a civilian contractor in Iraq, wanted his teenage son, Trakker, to appreciate the comforts of his life. He wanted his son to understand the pain and sufferings of other people around the world. … “He needed the humility of seeing people who had so little." … Young said he's disturbed by the media's depiction of life in Iraq. He said most Iraqis want democracy and are grateful to be liberated from Saddam Hussein's regime. "I wish reporters would get out and report some of the good things that are going on in Iraq," he said.

PICK OF THE PARTY ?
Not very presidential.
No Slam-Dunk for Hillary in Florida, Ohio: New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, leading candidate for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, has difficulty getting above 50 percent in Florida against two relatively unknown Republican candidates, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released [May 30, 2006]. … "Within the Democratic Party, there are some who argue that Sen. Clinton might have difficulty winning a general election. These results might give support to those voices," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
According to Rush: "It seems like everywhere I go I get the question I heard on the golf course yesterday: What about Hillary? I said, 'Forget it. She's toast.'"
NURSE G GRADUATES -- AGAIN!
Nurse G graduated from Elmira College on Sunday with her degree in nursing. It was her 2nd BS degree from EC. After earning her first, she went to work for Corning Inc. in their research facility. Several years later she decided to quit and return to college to become a nurse. She and Little H are standing in front of Mark Twain's study, which sits in the middle of the campus. For some reason, neither one would smile until I said, "Say poopyhead!" Little H is in that phase when the mere mention of the *P* word sends him into fits of laughter.
The guest speaker was Eileen Collins, America's first female space shuttle pilot and mission commander.
Elmira native, Eileen Collins, was the guest speaker: It was Collins' turn in the role-modeling department Sunday as she addressed 408 graduates, their families and friends.
"I want to assure you that dreams do come true," she said. All it takes is five H's, she added: hard work, humility, honesty, health and happiness.
Eileen Collins received an honorary degree in science.

Another honorary degree was given to Barbara Riggs, Elmira native, who protected President Ronald Reagan: Barbara Riggs was the first woman to serve as deputy director of the U.S. Secret Service and protected Presidents Gerald Ford through George W. Bush before retiring in January.
When President Reagan died June 5, 2004, Riggs was asked by her boss to represent the Secret Service during observances in California. Riggs and three others flew to California aboard Air Force One.
She was with Nancy Reagan aboard Air Force One when her husband's body was flown to D.C. where Riggs took part in all of the ceremonial events. "Because I had such a close relationship with him, that was very meaningful to me," she said.
Today is the 2nd anniversary of Reagan's death.
Ronald Reagan, Teacher: Reagan's poll numbers in January of 1983 stood at 35% as he was pummeled for a policy that declared the Soviets an "evil empire." Because he stood by his principles, because he understood the nature of human beings, their eternal yearning for freedom and had a keen grasp of what he called America's "historical role as the spiritual leader of the Free World," there is no Soviet Union today.
IN THE BOOK CORNER
When I read about this at Grumpy Old Bookman, I told DogMan and he ordered it on the spot. I didn't find it here in the US, so he ordered it from the UK:
Graze anatomy: SINCE IT WAS published in her native Germany last August, Leonie Swann’s debut novel [THREE BAGS FULL] has been a surprise bestseller there, reprinting fourteen times in a matter of months. Foreign rights sold quickly and lucratively around the world, with Anthea Bell’s witty English translation set to be joined by some 15 others in languages from Finnish to Korean. There is even talk of a film. Not bad for a detective story in which the investigators are sheep.
POSTHUMOUS HIT: BETTER late than never? Rudi Vbra, author of "I Escaped from Auschwitz," died three months ago, never knowing his book would become Britain's No. 1 bestseller. The book tells how hundreds before him had tried to escape and been captured, tortured and killed. Vbra, who was a registrar in the death camp, knew the SS procedure for capturing the runners and so was able to outfox them. Vrba brought documentation about what was happening in the camps to President Roosevelt, the pope and the British - the first proof of genocide after so much rumor. For years after the war, Vrba was a key witness at trials for Nazi war criminals. The tome is published in the United States by Barricade Books.
Valerie Plames book fails: The $2.5 million book deal that Valerie Plame Wilson, the former Central Intelligence Agency officer whose identity was publicly disclosed three years ago [after her husband bragged about his CIA agent wife], negotiated with Crown Publishing Group last month has fallen through. Ms. Wilson, who could not agree on terms with Crown, is now in exclusive negotiations with Simon & Schuster, which originally had lost an auction for the book to Crown.
IT'S DÉJÀ VU ALL OVER AGAIN
Pictures from the NYT 1992 front page article, "The Making of a First Family: a Blueprint."
When the NY Times posted a recent front page story about the Clintons' marriage, it never expected such a negative response.
Hillary and Bill: A Relationship Too Political to Be Ignored: COMPLAINTS about the May 23 Page 1 article on Hillary and Bill Clinton add up to one of the most uniformly negative and partisan reader reactions to a Times article during the past year. Most decried as tabloid journalism the story about the couple and the political implications of their marriage for her Senate re-election campaign and presidential aspirations.
It's not the first time the Times has printed a story on the Clintons on the front page. Right after the election in 1992, the NYT printed an astonishing piece which detailed just how the Clintons were re-packaged for the public during the campaign. The piece was written by the late Michael Kelly. It was called The Making of a First Family: a Blueprint. It's still worth reading, especially now that Hillary is desperate to become president.
More great insight into Hillary.
